These programs, aimed at providing substantial cost savings for homeowners, are anticipated to breathe new life into the housing market across the province. The PST Rebate for New Home Construction
Recognizing the pivotal role of homeownership in wealth accumulation, Saskatchewan has rolled out the PST Rebate for New Home Construction. Applicable to contracts signed or new housing starts after April 1, 2023, this rebate is a boon for prospective homeowners. Eligible homes priced below $550,000 (excluding land and certain costs) witness a sliding rebate percentage within the $450,000 to $550,000 range. Homeowners must occupy these new homes by April 1, 2026, and submit rebate applications by March 31, 2027.
The Secondary Suite Incentive Grant Program
As another innovative measure, the SSI grant program aims to incentivize homeowners to construct secondary suites in their primary residences.
